Is there discomfort during the procedure?
There is minimal discomfort with the procedure. At our office, all patients are asked at the end of the procedure, "on a scale of 0-10, 0 being no pain and 10 being the worst pain you ever felt, how would you rate this procedure?" Patients will typically rate their discomfort as a 2 or 3.

Can I drive myself home after the procedure?
We would prefer that you have someone drive you home after the procedure. We do offer a mild sedative prior to the procedure and we do not want you to drive after the use of that medication.

How will this affect my schedule after the procedure?
Depending on your lifestyle, activity level and job, there may be some minimum downtime for a few days post procedure. As long as your job does not require a significant amount of strenuous activity, you may return as soon as you wish.

Will I be awake or under general anesthesia?
You will be awake for the procedure. The type of anesthesia that is used is called "tumescent anesthesia." This anesthetic process has been used for 30 years and was initially developed as an alternative to general anesthesia for office-based liposuction procedures. Tumescent anesthesia has an exceptional safety record.
